A Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO)

Each GSI company, collectively known as the GSI Family of Companies, is 100% owned by the Native Hawaiian Community Development Corporation (NHCDC), a Small Business Administration (SBA)-recognized Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO). Pursuant to SBA regulations, NHOs are non-profit organizations, managed by Native Hawaiians, that principally serve Native Hawaiians.

The Native Hawaiian Community Development Corporation (NHCDC) was incorporated in Hawai`i in 2003 for the charitable, scientific, professional, and educational benefit of Native Hawaiians. Profits generated by NHCDC’s subsidiaries—the GSI Family of Companies—along with contributions to the organization, directly support its community service initiatives.

Native Hawaiians are the indigenous people of Hawai`i. Since the loss of their land, sovereignty, and traditional way of life, they continue to face disadvantages and limited opportunities. While many Native Hawaiians have successfully assimilated into the Western economy and way of life, many others still struggle to embrace these values and achieve economic success. By investing in charitable, scientific, professional, and educational development for Native Hawaiians, NHCDC is committed to fostering a sustainable future rooted in economic opportunity and cultural integrity, so they can thrive in Hawai‘i and beyond.
